Thanksgiving turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, more gravy just poured over everything on the plate followed by pumpkin pie piled high with whipped cream. Christmas dinner with dessert and dessert for your dessert followed by weeks of snacking on left-over desserts. I’m going to need to run a marathon to burn off all of the extra calories I take in within the last two months of the year.
The end of the year is also when I start letting myself go mentally. Cobwebs start to form on my language skills and my word finding skills slow down like an old man after a large meal. How can you avoid this end-of-the-year slump? How can you make sure that you start 2019 with a brain full of foreign language skills and keep that momentum going for several months?
How about 90 language lessons in 3 months? A lesson a day keeps the cobwebs away. That sounds expensive, though. Well, it doesn’t have to be. My friends over at Lingoda are offering another Language Marathon, which is not only an affordable price to begin with, but you can get a full refund if you complete all 90 lessons in 90 days. This could save you up to almost €900. As an added bonus you can get an additional 10% off of your first month if you sign up for the marathon early and pay for your first month upfront. This discount is limited, so sign up soon to get the 10% discount.
Before I give you all of the details about this marathon challenge and what you need to do in order to get the full refund at the end, let me tell you a bit about Lingoda and why I have been partnering with them as long as I have.
The problem with a lot of online learning platforms is that they are impersonal. They don’t take into account the individual who is trying to learn a language. Their structure is rigid with little to no room for personalization. Lingoda, on the other hand, brings you the personalization of a real classroom experience without the restrictions of the physical classroom.
On Lingoda, you aren’t learning from a bot or an app. You are learning from a real teacher, who has been trained to help you get the most out of your language learning experience. Every class is a face-to-face live lesson with a native speaker. Whether you are taking lessons in German, English, French, Spanish or their new Business English course, you can be sure that you will have a top notch teacher.
When you take group classes with Lingoda, you will always have small group sizes. The average group size is 3 students. You won’t get that kind of student to teacher ratio at any university. You can book your classes to fit your schedule no matter how busy you are. Their classes are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Simply choose a topic and a time that fits your needs. You don’t even have to be home for these lessons. If you have a computer and a stable internet connection, you can take classes with Lingoda.
Each class is structured around a particular topic. From classroom or family vocabulary to shopping or the weather. You can find lessons that match your professional and personal goals. You can download the lesson materials before your scheduled class, so you can get an overview. Then you have those materials to review when the lesson has ended.
If you don’t know what your level is or where to begin, you can get an evaluation to test your skills and help you find the appropriate lessons for you. If you want to see what that looks like, you can check out my original review of Lingoda linked here.
So that’s what Lingoda brings to the table on a daily basis. You can get all of those benefits no matter if you are taking part of a language marathon or if you are simply taking classes like normal. But let’s get back to the language marathon.
As I already mentioned, the Language Marathon from Lingoda consists of 90 lessons in 90 days. The marathon I’m talking about today starts on January 21st and runs until the 20th of April. You can only take one class per day and you have to take a lesson every day for all 90 days in order to qualify for the full refund. If you don’t think you can handle 90 lessons in 90 days, you could opt for the half marathon, which is 45 lessons in the same time frame. You simply have to take 15 lessons for every 30 days of the marathon.
If you are new to the marathon challenge or you have done a previous marathon, but you didn’t qualify for the refund, you can take part in this marathon. You need to sign up before January 14th. There is usually an entry fee of €5, but with my voucher code STUDY18 you can join for just 50 cents in Euros.
By signing up for the Marathon, you are agreeing to pay for 3 months of classes. For simplicity sake, I’m going to give you the prices in Euros, but the dollar and Ruble amounts are listed on the screen, too. The half marathon would be €99 per month for English, French or Spanish, €129 per month for German or €149 for Business English. If you are joining the full marathon it would be €199 per month for English, French or Spanish, €269 per month for German or €299 for Business English. Again, if you complete the full marathon, Lingoda will refund 100% of the cost from all 90 lessons. That’s up to almost €900 back. If you complete the half marathon, Lingoda will refund 50% of the cost of your 45 lessons, which could be as much as about €220.
What does it mean to “complete the marathon”? You just need to show up to class on time. Take your 90 lessons in the language of your choice, hopefully German, and in the end, you get your money back. If you book a class and miss it or you fail to book a class at all, you will not qualify for the refund. You can still keep taking classes even if you don’t qualify for the refund. In fact, I would encourage you to do so, as you already agreed to pay for them when you signed up for the marathon.
Don’t forget to read the full terms and conditions on Lingoda’s website which is linked below, but I do want to point out that at the end of the marathon, your account will be converted to a monthly subscription account like all of the other accounts. This means, unless you cancel it before you are charged, you will be charged for the next month’s lessons after the marathon has ended.
If you decide to back out of the marathon for any reason, you have 14 days from the date you sign up to cancel your participation. You will not be charged for the first month of the marathon until January 17th. If you decide to sign up early to take advantage of the 10% discount on the first month, you will pay up front for the first month, but you still have 14 days to cancel and get your payment back.
So that’s it. Sign up today for the Lingoda Language Marathon. Use my STUDY18 to get a discount on the entry fee and sign up as soon as you are able to make sure you get in on that 10% Pay Now discount. Then kick off the new year with a huge boost to your language skills. It will be challenging, but, as with anything worth doing, the effort will be well worth it.
