Everyone knows that the best way to learn a foreign language is to go to the country in which that language is spoken and immerse yourself in the language and culture of the people whose mother tongue you want to learn. Let’s run down your options.
Option 1:
You go to the country to visit and you stay as long as you have money and time to do so. Great. You will definitely get a lot of the culture, but there will be some things lacking. You won’t get to experience what real life is like for the people in that country, because you are just a tourist. Your language immersion will be limited to the situations a tourist comes across. You will be able to order food, buy souvenirs, and book a hotel or hostel. That seems a bit limiting.
Option 2:
You take a university study abroad course. You take classes in the language you want to learn and you are immersed in the same ways you would be as a tourist, but when you aren’t in class, what do you do? You go back to your apartment or dorm. Do you talk to yourself in the language you are learning? How much immersion can you really get from this experience? It is a great opportunity, don’t get me wrong, but there has to be something better.
Let me introduce you to a new option that combines the immersion of a home stay program, the structure of a university course, and the overall experience of a dream vacation, all while not breaking the bank, Abroadwith
